SAKURA

SAKURA

This series introduces one the most celebrated moments in Japan: blossoming cherry trees that marks the official beginning of spring in a majestic show of white and pink fireworks.

Perhaps it is in Japan more than anywhere else in the world that people have the most reasons to welcome and celebrate this transient beauty. This country is put to the test again and again because of harsh weather conditions and other natural disasters that remind everyone at all time that human beings have very little control over the course of their existence. Typhoons, floods, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions have all contributed to build this quiet resilience.

Sakura flowering is never a sad moment or a time for mourning; on the contrary, it is an opportunity to go out with friends, to contemplate this beauty that sometimes reminds us of how clear and pure the sky is after a storm, this strange feeling to have gone through something much larger and more powerful than us.
